Suzdal (first mentioned in 999) was important Ruthenian center since the middle of the XIII century (center of separate principality). • In 1341 Juchid khan Uzbek splat the neighboring grand duchy of Vladimir, passing Nizhni Novgorod and Gorodets to Suzdal prince Konstantin Vasilievich. • Fast rise of Nizhni Novgorod in the first half of XIV century led to the transference of newly formed Nizhni Novgorod-Suzdal principality capital city there from Suzdal in 1350.
