Palmetto Style 1340 Acrylic Compression Packing Seal
This Palmetto style 1340 PTFE-impregnated acrylic compression packing seal with yellow aramid corners protects pumps and valves from fluid leaks in general to abrasive applications. The interwoven braided packing seal is made of soft, flexible acrylic (Syn-Tex) yarn coated with a fifty-percent or more polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) dispersion. PTFE fills gaps in the braid to help improve sealing and protect the packing from harsh chemicals, including solvents, acids, bases, and strong oxidizers. PTFE’s low coefficient of friction helps reduce shaft wear by minimizing drag and heat buildup between the packing and the shaft or stem. The packing corners are reinforced with high tensile strength aramid yarn to help prevent abrasion and packing extrusion.
This non-contaminating packing seal is compatible with media in the pH range of 2-12, has a maximum pressure limit of 1,500 pounds per square inch (psi), a pressure-velocity (PV) factor of 375,000, and a surface speed of 2,300 feet per minute (fpm). It operates across a wide temperature range from -10 to 500 degrees F (-23 to 260 degrees C). Style 1340 is suitable for use in general to abrasive conditions involving high pressures, slurries, and salt solutions, among others.
