Lovely Whiting Sterling Silver Louis XV Asparagus Server / Serving Fork

Description

Presented is a wonderful Whiting sterling silver asparagus serving fork. This piece is done in the popular Louis XV pattern, which began production in 1891. This is a classic pattern featuring a shell and scroll motif. This particular piece has the old Whiting mark and patent date stamp, and dates to within a decade or so of the patent date. The fork has five wide, flat tines, connected near the end by little crescent shapes between the tines, suitable for serving asparagus as well as a wide variety of other treats. The handle has a monogram of RW in flowing script.
The server is stamped with the Whiting maker's mark as well as sterling and a patent date of 1891.
This piece is in great condition. The details of the design are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The server is about 8 3/8 inches long.
The server weighs 89 grams or 3.1 regular ounces.
