Description
Presented is a fine quality sterling silver serving fork by Durgin. This piece is made in the popular and attractive Louis XV pattern, which began production in 1891. This pattern features a lovely scroll and shell motif covering both the front and back of the handle, very intricate and detailed. This fork has four large flat tines, one in a notched, curved shape. The terminal of the handle has a monogram of what looks like 'MTLC' in elegant script. This piece is in great overall condition. The details of the pattern are quite crisp. There is some surface wear to the tines of the fork, as is to be expected since this piece has not been buffed. There are no splits, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The back of the piece is stamped 'sterling' and with the hallmark for Durgin.
The serving fork is about 8 inches long.
This piece weighs 82 grams or 2.9 regular ounces.
