This antique, traditional English-made silver Gravy or Sauce Ladle is the 19th century classic Fiddle pattern.
This lovely Georgian-style piece combines elegance and simplicity with the timeless beauty of genuine English silver.
This exquisite Silver Sauce/Toddy Ladle is
7 ½" long
with a

It has been carefully hand-polished to detect any potential flaws, and shows ony the lovely patina of fine 19
th
Century silver.
It is
SHINY and BEAUTIFUL and in
GOOD, USED CONDITION
, with no dents, dings or tarnish.  While careful examination shows very fine use marks and only minimal scratches,
THERE IS NO SIGN OF WEAR
.
The photos are greatly enlarged to purposely show any slight imperfections.
While I do not know the exact age of this beautiful piece, this style of ladle was typically forged in the years
1800-1889
. The “maker’s mark” on the back is that of Sheffield’s James Deakin & Sons, the mark that was used from 1886 until 1897 (after which the “Ltd.” was added).
The engraved monogram (which I suspect is a family crest) depicts a strong arm holding a snake in the fist.
Please examine the photo; you may be able to interpret the crest/monogram.
