Description
Presented is a wonderful old sterling silver ice cream slice made by William B. Durgin Company. The ice cream server is done in the Louis XV pattern which was first produced in 1890. The handle is nicely engraved with a twenty-fifth anniversary presentation including the initials K over GH on the front of the handle and the dates 1865 and 1890 on the reverse. This piece was obviously given in 1890, the first year that this pattern was produced. The ice cream slice is marked on the blade with the maker’s mark for Durgin, Sterling, and the Alexander Company for the retailer. The Durgin hallmark is sideways just under the sterling mark.
The condition is excellent. There are a few little dings here and there, but this is quite minor. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The ice cream slice is 9 7/8 inches long.
The weight is 110.7 grams or 3.9 ounces.
