Description
Presented is a wonderful old set of 9 sterling silver tablespoons or serving spoons made by Whiting Manufacturing Company. The spoons are done in the intricate Alhambra pattern which was first produced in 1880. Eight of the spoons are engraved with an A in Gothic script on the front of the handles and ‘Germain’ on the backs of the handles. The ninth spoon is engraved with G in Gothic script on the front and ‘N. Gerlach’ on the back of the handle.Each spoon is marked on the reverse with a maker’s mark for Whiting and Sterling. Some of the spoons are also marked with F. Gelrich for the retailer.
The condition is excellent. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The spoons are 8 1/8 inches long.
The combined weight of the set is 449.3 grams or 15.7 ounces.
