It fits on the exhaust side of the gasket of the EGR pipe from the exhaust.
Used to block the exhaust gases from re-entering your engine which can cause catastrophic engine failure.

TIPS:
EGR Block off plates are designed to reduce the heat in the combustion chamber at the back of the block.
If cause the engine warning light to come on when fitting the plate without whole, you can fit the plate with the hole in it to allow some exhaust gas to flow through. ( please note some models will still log a fault even with a hole in the plate )
Blocking the EGR is a performance modification for use in off-road vehicles.
If fitted to On road vehicles they may not comply with vehicle emissions regulations or vehicle warranty.
Benefits of Blocking EGR:
Prevents exhaust gases from re-entering your vehicles intake during low-load situations.
Stop soot from the exhaust clogging up your inlet manifold.
It redirects it all back out through the exhaust, where it was supposed to go.
It also results in cleaner engine oil, which in turn prolongs the life of the engine and gives better fuel economy.
It also causes the turbo to spool up faster and sooner.
