    Description

    On offer is an undated (c. 1232-1250) Municipality of Cremona Silver Denaro in estimated Very Fine to Extremely Fine condition. It is approximately 16mm in diameter.
    The obverse legend inscription, +FREDERICUS, invokes the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen (r. 1220-1250). The Lombard municipality of Cremona was incorporated into the Holy Roman Empire from 1232 and Frederick II often held his court in the city.
    The reverse legend inscription reads +CREMONA.
